Self-confidence is reassuring to a point. Success is better if it lasts. Inner peace with yourself is surprising if you can maintain it.

This type of peace is more than the absence of conflict. Inner tranquility of the heart brings multiple benefits, like fellowship with those near and far away or overcoming hurt feelings. The peaceful highway of life has potholes, the kind where your tire shatters at 70 mph. The bumps are a jolt to your system at 40 mph. You can see the misgivings of life ahead when traveling at 10 mph, allowing you the time to swerve and miss them.

The fast lane of life permits you to cover a lot of territory, but rapidity has a downside. You don’t have the time to enjoy the precious little things of life, like playing with grandkids, having dinner with loved ones, or sitting in silence reflecting on God’s goodness to you and yours.

The next time you see an opportunity to help or encourage someone, seize the moment. Self-confidence isn’t needed. In fact, your success in life doesn’t mean anything to them. But, a helping hand shows compassion and will bring you an inner peace that words cannot fully explain. In this case, words aren’t necessary.

Reflection brings blissful satisfaction. Slow down and take some time to look at yourself in the mirror of life. Was it self-confidence or success that brought you to this point in life? Can you see a reflection of your inner peace?
